Purpose-Driven Healing
-The Story of Old Glory Hello! My name is Andrew Dale. I served as a combat medic with the Nebraska Army National Guard from 2007 to 2013, with the 195th Forward Support Company (Special Operations) (Airborne), and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.
Old Glory Flag Company grew out of my time at Warriors Heart in Bandera, Texas, a dedicated sanctuary where service members, veterans, and first responders gain the tools to heal from trauma and overcome addiction. It was there that I learned woodworking, and I discovered how therapeutic it is to work with my hands and give my mind somewhere to rest.
Handcrafting each flag gives me a healthy, focused outlet for my stress and emotions. Each one is built from pine that I cut, glue, plane, sand, and stain by hand in my "shop," which is really my garage and driveway. Every flag is a challenge, and a chance to turn simple boards into something beautiful and one of a kind.
The American flag is beautiful, and carries deep meaning for me. As a fourth-generation military veteran, I see it as a symbol of sacrifice, freedom, and love of country. Each imperfect flag reflects that meaning.
